Local Area Committees (LACs)

We believe the local committees will provide us with a new and exciting way of engaging with residents and communities.  We want to work together to make a real difference to the services we provide and the local committees will provide a very important way for people to get involved and have a say about what happens in the future. The three local committees are now in place for East, West and Rushcliffe areas. They will be keeping an eye on our work, how we perform and making sure we deliver improved services and the promises we make to customers.

What is the role of the local committees?

The local committees are locally based groups which sit underneath and work closely with the our Board. While monitoring our performance they will ensure that local issues, priorities and interests are acted upon. Each committee will have a Local Improvement Budget to spend on local priorities.

The key aims of the committees are to:

  • provide a new and exciting way to work together to improve services and the communities we serve
  • make sure we deliver what we said we would
  • listen to what residents and customers are saying and make sure the Board has this information
  • comment on how we are doing
  • suggest changes and improvements to how we do things
  • ensure we work in partnership with residents, customers and other local organisations, and
  • use the Local Improvement Budget for the benefit of the area.

Who sits on the local committees?

Local committees will work on a partnership approach with residents, staff and independent people working together. Each committee will be made up of six individual residents, four independent people and will be chaired by a member of the Spirita Board. Staff will also attend and support the committees. In two areas, the East and Rushcliffe areas, the Chairman is also a local resident.
