Corporate governance
As a responsible registered social landlord we take our governance duties very seriously. The ultimate governing body for Spirita is our Board. The Board is made up of 12 people - ten non-executives (non staff members) and two executives (staff members). The Board has resident and non resident members.
The Board meets at least every two months and more regularly when business needs require. All the members give their time voluntarily. The members are drawn from a wide variety of backgrounds to provide a comprehensive range of skills and expertise.
The Board deals mainly with strategic and performance matters, and delegates to the executive the day to day operation of our affairs. A number of committees also operate to consider more detailed and specific areas of business, for example finance and audit.
Spirita has three local committees, each chaired by a member of the Spirita Board. These local committees have a membership that is very resident focussed and they provide a formal link between the Board and our residents' groups.
We have three partner businesses, each with its own Board. These are Hallmark Community Housing Association, EM Property Services Limited and SpiritaGen Limited. Each of these businesses reports to the Spirita Board.
