Resident inspector training gives new power to residents

Metropolitan Housing Partnership has been working in partnership with Housing Quality Network (HQN) to train a team of residents to become resident inspectors. The training, the first of its kind, is intended to empower residents and enable them to cast a critical eye on the services provided by their landlord. The programme is in response to the co-regulation agenda of the Tenant Service Authority (TSA).  MHP and HQN will be holding joint seminars to share their experiences. Read on…

MHP shine a light on impractical light fittings

LightbulbMetropolitan Housing Partnership (MHP) is encouraging the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) to challenge the common interpretation of Building Regulations which result in three or four pin energy saving light fixtures being installed into new and refurbished homes. MHP is voicing concerns of residents who are frustrated about the impracticality of the energy saving light fittings currently being installed as the bulbs are costly and difficult to replace.
