CASE STUDY: Lingham Court - Distinctive design, unique build

Arranged in two crescents, the design creates a south west facing private garden and east facing forecourt. The internal triangles provide a unique communal lobby for sheltered apartments and a private entrance for homeowners. Nestling between the crescent and the street frontage is an ‘egg tower’ providing a focal point and penthouse apartments.

The distinctive form of this mixed-use building was recognised with a 2005 Housing Design Award.

Our construction process had to be as unique as our design. With the Victoria line running immediately beneath the development, meeting strict weight limits was a necessity. Prefabricated light gauge steel panels were made off site for both the floors and the load bearing walls. Bathrooms were also prefabricated off site as ‘pods’ and lifted into place.
