In her role Maria supports MHP's member organisations to identify and create volunteering opportunities that will benefit the communities in which our residents and service users live.
She has organised team challenges where staff from different departments come together to do a gardening makeover or create an allotment in our sheltered schemes. Staff volunteers have also helped out at sporting activities or at the local job fairs we organise with partner organisations. More...
Making ends meet
In Nottingham, we are working with a local credit union to help residents on low incomes to manage their money.
The union offers small loans at a low interest rate, so that residents on low incomes don't get trapped by crippling debt. They also make it easier for tenants to save, even if it's just a pound each week.
The more money that is saved with the union, the better the union can help members who need financial support. So many of our Midlands staff are saving with the union every month. And our finance team is administering these payments for free.
