Metropolitan Housing Partnership receives praise from Mayor for sustainability efforts
Metropolitan Housing Partnership was one of 16 housing associations praised at a reception hosted by Mayor Boris Johnson who acknowledged efforts made to improve our sustainability work. We received a bronze rating from the independent assessment undertaken by Sustainable Homes Index for Tomorrow (SHIFT).
Matthew Bush, Sustainability Manager, says: “We’re please with our results but we realise there is clearly room for improvement. Signing up to SHIFT was a chance for us to be openly assessed on what we are doing in the area of sustainability. It also gives us recommendations on what we can do to improve.”
SHIFT undertook an assessment of our organisation and focused on our governance, new build homes, existing homes and offices. SHIFT was developed in partnership with the Tenant Services Authority, WWF-UK, the Bank of Scotland Corporate and the UK Green Building Council.
The assessment commended and highlighted that we demonstrated a good drive to develop a sustainable future and had established a solid foundation on which this goal can be achieved.
Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: "I applaud the sixteen organisations who have made such a commitment to improving the environmental sustainability of their operations and I am very keen to see other public sector landlords in London following this commendable lead."
