Spirita appoints new Managing Director
Metropolitan Housing Partnership (MHP) has announced the appointment of Sheila Hyde as the new Managing Director of Nottingham-based Spirita Ltd, one of the largest providers of housing and associated services in the East Midlands.
A member of the Metropolitan Housing Partnership, Spirita was formed in 2007 through the merger of Rushcliffe Homes, Metropolitan Housing Trust (Midlands) and The Walbrook Group. Prior to the merger, Ms Hyde was Chief Executive of Rushcliffe Homes and last year she moved to Cambridge as Interim Managing Director of Granta Housing Society Ltd, another member of MHP.
Speaking after her appointment was confirmed by Bill Payne, Chief Executive of MHP, a delighted Ms Hyde said: “This is a thrilling opportunity and I’m looking forward to working with our residents, Board Members and the excellent team at Spirita to further develop our services.
“Our focus will be firmly sighted on the delivery of good quality customer services and community involvement that meet the needs and expectations of our residents.”
Bill Payne added: “This is an exciting and challenging role, for which we needed an outstanding individual. Sheila’s appointment follows a comprehensive assessment and interview process and I feel sure that we have found the right person to take the helm as Spirita moves forward.
Background Information
Sheila Hyde began her career in residential care and hostel work, before moving to Debt Counselling and then Welfare Rights. She has spent time in both the Voluntary Sector and Statutory sector and was a Committee Member of the National Money Advice Association for nine years.
Her work in the housing sector includes roles with Leicester City Council, Broxtowe Borough Council and Metropolitan Housing Trust. In 1999 she joined Rushcliffe Borough Council as Borough Housing Officer, heading the Council's Housing Service and contributing to the development and implementation of departmental and corporate issues.
In July 2002 Sheila was appointed Chief Executive of Rushcliffe Homes and was responsible for the successful transfer of the Council’s housing stock to the Metropolitan Housing Partnership in 2003.
Following the merger of Rushcliffe Homes with The Walbrook Group and Metropolitan Housing Trust Midlands in 2007 when Spirita was formed, Sheila was Implementation Director for a short while before joining Granta Housing Society as Interim Managing Director.
She has an MSc in Housing and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing.
Married with two grown up children, she enjoys walking, skiing, and gardening.
