RedWelly digs for gold
RedWelly, the innovative social enterprise that operates within Spirita and which aims to stamp out garden poverty, is one of three short-listed for an award from the National Housing Federation by a panel of housing association tenants from across the Midlands.
Organisations were invited to submit entries for a new category, entitled “What we are Proud of” in the Neighbourhood Awards. The final outcome will be announced at the National Housing Federation Board Members’ Conference for the East and West Midlands on May 20th 2008. The winner will be selected, following a presentation at the conference, by conference delegates.
Phil Smith, Spirita’s Business Growth Director and Managing Director of RedWelly, said that he was delighted that the entry had been short-listed. “This recognises that RedWelly, working with our partners and local businesses, has made a real difference to our residents and their local communities,” he said.
“With a RedWelly™ community garden makeover, employers have a highly effective teambuilding event, and the opportunity to advance their community investment objectives at the same time. Those in the community in which the garden is located benefit from both the improved appearance and better accessibility features, so it’s a win win situation.”
