It’s a yes!

Residents of Lambeth based Ashmole estate, in South London recently voted yes to a stock transfer proposal to Metropolitan Housing Trust London. The ballot saw a 64% turnout with 53% voting yes.

Lambeth Council presented residents with MHT London's offer which promises to spend £30.4 million on the estate in the first six years after transfer and £20.7 million in the 24 years after.

Sue York, MHT London Assistant Director of Regeneration:  “We felt confident we had a solid proposal and this vote confirms it. We look forward to working with residents and Lambeth.”

Ted Moore, Chair of the Ashmole Residents' Steering Group, says: “This transfer signals great news for residents of the Ashmole estate. We’ll finally be able to get the regeneration work needed to bring our homes and estate up to a good standard.”

We’d like to acknowledge the dedication and support of the Steering Group who have worked continuously throughout the campaign. Work is scheduled to commence summer 2010.
