Metropolitan Housing Partnership takes a stand on climate change

Metropolitan Housing Partnership (MHP) will be taking part in a London Borough of Lambeth initiative to address climate change and sustainability within the borough. The Climate Change Conference will be held on Friday 13 June at Lambeth Town hall and forms part of the wider Love London festival (formally London sustainability week) which runs 1 - 21 June.

MHP will have a stall at the event to highlight their current and forthcoming developments within the borough which address climate change. MHP is a preferred partner for social housing within Lambeth and it is hoped that conference will go towards strengthening that relationship and demonstrate their commitment to the issue of climate change. MHP have three examples of developments within Lambeth which were built with an environmental and sustainability focus and include:

  • Vaughan Road, Coldharbour Lane which has solar panels on the roof
  • the soon to be launched Angela Carter Close
  • Trinity Rise were work has just been started.

All the developments have various environmental and sustainable features which will be highlighted at the conference.

Andy Cox, Senior Project Manager, of MHP says about the conference ‘Climate change affects us all and MHP wishes to address the issue as best as possible. By demonstrating the work we do local residents will be able to see the positive contributions we are making to the borough, their homes and ultimately the environment. We’re more than delighted to be a part of the conference and be working in partnership with Lambeth to address this issue.’

The conference will also see the launch of the LCCF (Lambeth Climate Change Forum) which MHP have been invited to be a part of in an aim to tackle the issue of climate change. The forum will aim to encourage businesses and key organisations across the borough to commit to reducing their carbon footprint.

The conference will also have an eco market to purchase ethical and sustainable products. The Conference will also have several events and activities being held within the area surrounding of the town hall.
