MHP maintain top 50 position in Stonewall Workplace Equality Index
The new Stonewall Workplace Equality Index (WEI) 2009 was recently released and Metropolitan Housing (MHP) is proud to announce it has maintained its position within the top 50 companies on the list. The index shows the top 100 companies within the UK for LGBT employees to work.
The launch of the Stonewall Top 100 Employers took place on Wednesday 7 January 2009. This year saw an increase in the number of employers taking part in the list with MHP emerging well from the 317 employers that took part. An additional plus for Metropolitan Housing Partnership is to be the only member of the G15 housing associations to be included in the index.
The criteria for the 2009 list had been revised with tougher criteria assessment. Stonewall will now look at how organisations engage with lesbian and gay staff, customers and service users and the effective equality policies around their engagement.
Bill Payne, MHP Chief Executive says of MHP’s position on the index: “It's great that MHP has once again been recognised for its commitment to LGB equality in the workplace. This is a tribute to our whole approach to Diversity, and in particular the work of our Diversity team and staff network group, METRO. It's also good news for both our existing and future staff. In these challenging economic times it's more important than ever that we recruit and retain the best people, regardless of their background. For MHP, Diversity is part of who we are, not just a 'nice-to-have”.
