Heath and education advice gives well-being feeling to local residents
Local residents of Morant Place in Haringey enjoyed a day of health, well being and sports activities as a result of cross organisation partnership between Metropolitan Housing Trust London (MHT London) and London Borough of Haringey (LBH). The event took place on Thursday 28 May at Morant Place, Commerce Road in North London.
The focus of the day was to provide residents with advice on education, careers and health. Football and basketball were among some of the activities to encourage young people to be more active and healthier. There was also a well-being bus providing information on health along with a bouncy castle and art competition. It is hoped that by bring together a wide age ranges for the day would be informative to all local residents and aid in developing more of a community spirit.
Local MP for Hornsey and Wood Green, Lynne Featherstone, visited the estate and spoke with residents about their views on living in the area. She said of the visit: "I was impressed to see the work Metropolitan is doing, both in terms of doing up properties to a really good standard and spreading essential community information via events and its mobile information bus. It's really making a difference to people's lives."
Tony Rodriguez, Community Initiatives Officer, said of the day: “MHT London are happy to be working with LBH. The outcome has been a provision of better services to both our residents and it’s this increase that fulfils our aims to give greater resident satisfaction.”
He added: “MHP wishes to engage the whole community, not just their own residents and by working with LBH we can do this. We’re delighted that Cllr Lynn Featherstone made time to attend this event.”
