Community investment - Aim 3: make places safer and greener

Helping parents make communities safer

In 2007, south London residents began a pioneering project for parents whose children are at risk of becoming involved in anti-social behaviour.

The Triangle Way Forward project gave parents the skills and confidence to:

  • consider how their own behaviour affects their children
  • improve their relationships with their children
  • tackle their children’s behaviour, where problems have resulted in contact with the police

The success of this small project has inspired staff in our Spirita and Clapham Park Homes businesses to develop similar activities in their areas.

The big clean-up

In Cambridge, residents on two Granta Housing Society estates told us that fly-tipping was turning their neighbourhood into an eyesore. Solution? A Clean-Up Day!Improving the environment

We organised for skips to be delivered and staff to lend a hand on the day, giving advice on how to dispose of old white goods. The Clean-Up day spurred others to have a clear-out too. Residents were so impressed with the difference it made to their estates that they have asked for this to become an annual event.

“The estate looks better than it has for a long time!”
